Wisdom
Understanding tradition and its relevance
The tradition offers the map. Science helps us read it. Practice is the journey itself.
Wisdom
The Wisdom section of Damaru is where its deeper knowledge systems are made accessible — to practitioners, teachers, curious minds, and those who want to understand the foundations of what they practise, not only its effects.
This is Damaru in its role as mentor: illuminating what the traditions actually say, examining how they may be understood today, and creating spaces for serious inquiry.
The Bodha School — Damaru's academic and training wing — partly lives here too, for those ready to carry this knowledge into their own teaching.
No prior academic background is required. What is required is curiosity and a genuine willingness to not know yet.
Shastra Studies
A Five-Level Journey into Sound
The texts of the Indic tradition are not museum pieces. They are working documents — precise, layered, and still radically relevant to the questions that contemporary neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy are only beginning to ask properly. Shastra Studies at Damaru is close reading as practice: not survey lectures, not motivational excerpts, but sustained, honest engagement with what the texts actually say
Bhagavad Gītā
Bhagavad Gītā
Who this is for: You have read the Gītā or heard it quoted. Now you want to understand it — the argument beneath the poetry, the psychology beneath the philosophy, the wisdom packed within the shlokas.
Introduction to Vedānta
Introduction to Vedānta
Who this is for: You want to understand what Indian philosophy actually claims about consciousness and self — not what popular wellness culture assumes it claims.
Research
Tradition guides our practices. Science helps us understand them. The Research section is where Damaru makes that understanding accessible — honestly, without overclaiming, and with the same rigour we bring to everything else.
Papers, Evidence Reviews and Scientific Interpretations
Papers, Evidence Reviews and Scientific Interpretations
Who this is for: You want to know what science actually says about these practices — not what wellness culture claims it says.
Case Studies
Learning from Damaru's Work
The meticulously and methodically documented account of what practice/ therapy does is often a powerful way of non-judgemental learning with evidence.. Not the principle — the person. Not the method — the moment it met someone's actual life.
Case Studies from Damaru Practice
Case Studies from Damaru Practice
Who this is for: You want to understand how the work actually unfolds in practice, with all its complexity and honesty intact.
Essays
Reflective and Experiential Explorations
Not all useful writing arrives at clean conclusions. Some of the most honest inquiry into what practice does is written in the middle of it — when you don't know yet, and you're thinking out loud.
Essays and Reflective Writing
Essays and Reflective Writing
Who this is for: You want writing that takes practice seriously as an intellectual and human subject — not as self-improvement content.
Conversations
Interviews, Dialogues, Guest Viewpoints
The practice of paying careful attention to how other serious people think. Damaru's Conversations bring in practitioners, researchers, scholars, and teachers — from within and adjacent to the Indic tradition — not for inspiration, but for the kind of honest, rigorous intellectual exchange that is genuinely rare.
Long-form interviews. Structured dialogues between practitioners who sometimes disagree. Guest essays from people whose thinking Damaru finds worth sitting with. The criterion is always the quality of the thinking — not the alignment with any particular position.
Resources
A curated library — not a comprehensive one. What Damaru considers genuinely worth your time, annotated with why, and organised so you can find your way in.
Reading List, References and Downloadable Materials

Who this is for: You want high-quality starting points for going deeper — not a list of everything that exists.
Books and Publications
Original writing from Mauli and the Damaru faculty, published in longer form. Independently published works and contributions to academic and practitioner publications. Listed with details and accessible summaries.
Writing something down carefully is itself a form of practice. What you hold in your hands — or on your screen — was made with the same intention as the work practised and taught at Damaru.
